About Me

Michelle Baas BSN, RN

Michelle Baas is a registered nurse in Tucson, AZ.  Her greatest passion is to provide families with education on topics like essential oil use and the benefits of placenta encapsulation to transform wellness.  I am the loving mother of two incredible boys and a living testament to the healing properties of the benefits of placenta encapsulation for postpartum healing.   After giving birth to my first son in 2007 I suffered tremendously for at least the first 8 days postpartum.  I had an extremely long and challenging labor ending with 3 hours of pushing and a pretty severe postpartum hemorrhage!  I was emotionally and physically drained in a way I could have never imagined.  I was always a pretty healthy woman and I had a low risk pregnancy and I was so sure that I would be able to bounce back from childbirth overnight.  However, significant blood loss and shear exhaustion left me without the ability to move around in my own home safely.  After childbirth I needed the help of someone else to support my weight at all times.  So needless to say, the only time I got out of bed was to go to the bathroom.  This struggle continued for 8 days.  Finally after 8 days of feeling like a prisoner in my own body I started doing some research.  A good friend of mine reached out to let me know that my placenta (which had been tucked away in my freezer to eventually plant under a tree), could actually offer health benefits for postpartum recovery.  She told me about placenta encapsulation and I was intrigued.  I already owned an Excalibur Dehydrator and I really had nothing to lose!

After only 24 hours of taking my placenta capsules I felt like a new person.  I could finally walk around my home without feeling like I was going to faint and I did not need support from anyone else.  I was convinced, placenta encapsulation is a powerful tool to work through so many of the challenges we all face during our postpartum recovery.  Once I had my energy back and I was taking my “Happy Pills”, my mood felt more in balance as well.  I was sleeping better, and the bond between my newborn and I grew deeper than I could have ever imagined.  My postpartum recovery went from feeling tragic, to feeling blissful.

I think it is important to share my story with others because I am sure there are women out there who have a similar story, without a good solution.  I had made a conscious choice to have a home-birth and I had assumed the difficult hurdle would simply involve the labor and birth alone, but I had no idea that recovering from childbirth could be so exhausting.

Please learn from my experience.  Enjoy your recovery time, bond with your baby, support and nourish your body.  You and your newborn deserve to have the physical, emotional and mental freedom after such a long and arduous journey!  It is an honor to provide placenta encapsulation in Tucson, and I look forward to working with you!

Blessings to all of you,

Michelle Baas BSN, RN
